This is more than a little sexual... in a very dark and disturbing kind of way....

hum.. to me it's just a portrait of a fictional gamma radiated turtle.
where you find any sexual nuances in it escapes me
but hey if you find it sexually dark and disturbing.. then that's what it is.

edit: looking at it a little closer and with this direction of thinking that you've presented in mind.
I suppose it does have a certain sexual reference to it.. A bit of a stretch for me on this
but on my part neither intentional or planned.
The color palette may have a lot to do with it, as the pencil sketch doesn't really convey this,
the palette choice was dictated for the most part simply by the background texture chosen.
In the end it over rode most of the coloring done before hand.

I thought I'd also add that the impression only lasts as long as it takes to take an even marginally closer look at the piece. As soon as you perceive the turtle's face, the impression is rendered null.

:)
well the work is rather odd and the shape of the face does..
I will post the pencil sketch so you can see it"s form in the time frame
I spent most of my time on it in, the coloring process didn't take even half the
time it took to draw it out.

I have a knack for making provocative comments.

I wasn't trying to yank your chain. I think the image is similar to female genitalia. With it's dark, red-ish color scheme it came across to meas demonstrating the nuances I mentioned.

That doesn't make it a bad piece, and I did not mean to imply anything negative by making the comment.

I follow you, my friend. I like your work.

Beyond that, my comments are just....well, comments. Feel free to take them or leave them as you deem proper.

:) some times I hate the internet!
it's a shame there is no better way to communicate in the written form
and convey the intentions better, as humans I think we are so programed to
take in body language, inflections in voice and facial expression at such a subconscious level
that when we. (me) tries to communicate in the written form.. things get lost, twisted and
misinterpreted
as to your opinion .. no offense taken.. I admit, at first the comment raised an eyebrow,
and I was taken back for a bit.. that connection was a bit of a shock to me as I'd never
seen it in that light..  my mind was thinking turtle ... but your right it's there..(chuckles to one self about it)
and this kind of subliminal trickery gets used a lot in art.. so I can see making a connection easy enough
I guess I was to close to the tree to see the..er bush sort to speak.

So in point .. your comments are always welcome :)
